The Poster Session is one of the highlights of the conference. Held during the the Thursday evening social, this friendly competition showcases hardcopy posters from GIS practitioners throughout the State. If you are using computer-mapping technology in real-world applications, this is your chance to win. Entries are prioritized for North Carolina government agencies, academic institutions and non-profit organizations.
The deadline to register is February 14th 2017. Only one entry per person. Only one entry per organization on a first come first served basis, additional entries from the same organization will be "wait listed" Typically we have been able to accept all submissions though, so don't be afraid to submit! Registrations will be accepted on a "first come, first served" basis. To register, complete the poster session registration form. Vote for your favorite poster and application from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Thursday evening social. Further details will be furnished in the near future!
The Poster Area is located in Ballroom B to the side of the exhibit booths (view layout). Please bring your poster and your hanging supplies with you to the conference. Hanging supplies range from push-pins, Velcro tabs, tape to staplers. The maximum poster size is 8 ft by 4 ft. The Poster Boards will be pre-numbered with your corresponding poster number, which will be provided to you by the Poster Committee. You may hang your posters Thursday morning and must be available for viewing by 2:00 pm Thursday afternoon. Please take down your poster by Friday 10:00 AM. We cannot be responsible for posters that are not removed. Poster voting starts Thursday at 4:00 PM and ends at 7:00 PM. The winners and honorable mentions will be announced Friday during the luncheon.
The GIS Certification Institute offers both education and contribution points toward a GISP for attendance and other involvement in the NC GIS Conference. For initial GISP Certification, a conference poster is worth 1 contribution point. For renewal of your GISP, a conference poster is worth 3 contribution points.
